Last Stop: Tulum

The last ancient city we visited was Tulum.  It is the more popular place to visit there because it is right on the coast and only 45 minutes south of Cancun.  It is just as amazing.  But we got there only 1 hour before closing and it was pretty busy, so I don't feel like we got to take it all in.

Entering Tulum.  The main temple is in the distant center.
The people were very methodical in erecting these buildings.  There are buildings that have a hole built in them, in which the sun only lines up through the hole at sunrise on the solstices and equinoxes, and on April 6th. Impressive!

Our tour guide said these handprints are original handprints from the dyes from flowers.

Behind us is the main temple.

This is a close-up of the main temple.  Notice on the left, there is a person upright, representative of Heavenly Father; in the middle is an upside down person, which is the symbol for Christ descending; and on the far right is an empty spot, symbolizing the Holy Ghost.

This is the backside of the temple.  It is built right on the edge of the cliff next to the ocean.

Goodbye Tulum and Goodbye Cancun!
