I know, its not Easter, but after two years of trying to breed our rabbits, we finally got baby bunnies (back in June)! Five were born, but one didn't make it because our mama rabbit didn't know how to be a mama and take care of them. Then 3 weeks later, our mama rabbit died. That was a sad day! Mackenzie came running in the house just bawling to me to tell me the news. As sad as it was (I cried too and I've hated those darn rabbits), in the end it was a happy time for Mackenzie because she got to be the mama and what a good job she did! She certainly took care of those 4 little babies, bottle feeding and all!
Tyson is holding down the mama so these little rascals can nurse. He was determined to make sure she fed them, so he went out multiple times everyday for 2 weeks and held her down until she finally figured it out.
Mackenzie LOVES these bunnies! This little white guy is her favorite. The neighborhood and ward kids love them too and always want to come visit and get them out. One time, this little white one fell out of the cage and broke its leg, but it healed up just fine and is doing great!
One month later...pretty big!
I should take current pictures - they are huge now! They are French lops, largest breed of domestic rabbits...getting to be around 15-18 lbs. That's a huge rabbit!
